“We had a significant termite problem in our Ahwatukee home — the previous owners had done a partial treatment years ago and the colony had recovered. Rex came out personally, found three separate active mud tube systems we didn't know about, and designed a liquid barrier + bait station combination. Six months later, no activity. The 30-day guarantee made us comfortable, but we haven't needed it.”
“Scorpion season in Scottsdale is no joke. After our first summer with scorpions in the house, we called Shield. Maria treated the exterior perimeter and entry points and we've had maybe two scorpions inside in the two years since, versus dozens before. Their quarterly plan is worth every dollar.”
“We found evidence of rodents in our garage and kitchen — droppings, gnawed food packaging. Jay came out the next morning, found four entry points we never would have seen, sealed them all, and set traps. The whole situation was resolved in two visits. No poison bait around our dogs. That mattered a lot to us.”
Common Questions
Honest Answers
What are the first signs of termites in a Phoenix home?
The most common signs are mud tubes (pencil-width dirt tunnels) along foundation walls or in crawl spaces, discarded wings near windowsills or doors after a swarm event, and hollow-sounding wood when you tap it. Subterranean termites — the most common in Arizona — rarely surface in visible ways until damage is already significant. Annual inspections catch infestations before they show surface signs.
Are your treatments safe for pets and children?
Yes. We use EPA-registered products and apply them using low-exposure, targeted protocols. For interior treatments, we provide a written re-entry timeframe (typically 2–4 hours for treated areas to dry). We don't broadcast-spray interior living spaces — we treat harborage points, entry gaps, and perimeter areas. You can tell us about any sensitivities and we'll adapt the protocol.
Do you offer recurring treatment plans?
Yes. Monthly and quarterly general pest control plans are available. Recurring plans include free re-treatments for any pest covered in your plan if you see activity between scheduled visits. Most Phoenix homeowners on a quarterly plan see a 90%+ reduction in pest activity within the first two treatment cycles.
How long does a typical termite treatment take?
A liquid barrier treatment for an average Phoenix home (1,500–2,000 sq ft) takes 2–3 hours including trenching and treatment. A bait station system installation takes 1–2 hours with monthly monitoring visits thereafter. Bait stations take longer to eliminate a colony (3–6 months) but have a smaller chemical footprint. Rex will recommend the right approach based on colony type and location.
